Dovilė Šakalienė said Lithuania has done $2 billion-worth of business with American defense firms in the past three years and has "need" for "at least $8 billion" more in "coming years."
"Our message is clear: Lithuania is ready to ensure the security of its citizens by all means," said Dovile Sakaliene, Lithuania's defense minister.
While costs and delivery dates were not made public in the statement, the Lithunian minister told the Baltic News Service that the goal is to have the tanks by 2030.
Lithuania's state-owned Giraitė Armaments Plant is also set to join the ammunition production project alongside Northrop, according to Gintarė Skaistė, Lithuania's finance minister.
